Abstract
Objective: Anxiety is one common neurotic disorder that all people in various situation experience it. The present study aimed at an investigation of the effectiveness of cognitive behavioral therapy on decrease of anxiety symptoms and increase of academid function in students with social phobia Method: The Present study presents the guasi experimental method with experimental and control groups and pre-test/post-test. The statistical population of the present study includes all of the 14 to 19 year students with social phobia. Sample includes 28 students that randomly selected experimental group (14) and control group (14). Subjects were, in sampling methods. The measurement instruments were anxiety scale and social phobia scale that completed before and after intervention. Experimental group participant received one 90 minutes session weekly. The control group didn’t received any intervention. Results: Using descriptive statistical and variance analysis and software SPSS-20, Data were analyzed. The results of the analysis of variance revealed that there was significant differences between experimental and control groups in post-test of anxiety and social phobia (p<0.05). Conclusion: Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the cognitive behavioral therapy could increase student’s psychological wellbeing and academic function.
